The rapper has published his new album “American Dream” and has achieved his fourth number one in the Billboard 200 chart
21 Savage released his latest album “American Dream” past January 12. The project has 15 songs and last almost 50 minutes. This album has become the first number one of the 2024 year.
Although this achievement is not a surprise for the London-born rapper, due to the fact that it’s her fourth number one album, it’s the first time in five years he reaches the top with a solo project.
According to Billboard he has reached the top on the tally with “I Am > I Was” in 2019, and followed by “Savage Mode II” (with Metro Boomin in 2020), “Her Loss” (with Drake in 2022) and now, “American Dream”.
This album has surpassed his most successful work until the moment, “I Am > I Was”. The first album reached 131,000 units sold, while “American Dream” surpassed it with 133,000 units. Meanwhile, in on-demand official streams in its first week the first one got 151.87 million, but the second has achieved 169.53 million.
On Billboard, they define this metric scale: “The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate”.
The rapper also published a fake trailer of a movie about his life that people took really serious. 21 Savage has spoken out and confirmed that there’s no documentary or project by the moment and that he made it for fun.
This album is also his first one as an American. After the Grammy Awards in 2019 the rapper was arrested by immigration irregularities. Last October, Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, as he is really called, posted on his social media that he had become a permanent resident of the United States.
Sharing the table with him, we can found “Orquídeas” from Kali Uchis, who has achieved her upper number on the Billboard charts by far. On the songs part, the number one is for Ariana Grande with her single “Yes, And?” from her upcoming album “Eternal Sunshine”.
The rapper has jumped to the social media to thank his fans for the support on his job. This achievement is in part thanks to the fans that has listened to the meaningful lyrics of 21 Savage, getting him as the 21 most listened artist on Spotify.
