We have seen a lot of flying cars projects, but at the moment there is only one of those projects that has achieve the license to be driven, the AirCar that has been designed by Klein Vision. This flying car has made more than 70 hours of testing and more than 200 take offs and lands. After all those tests, it has been given the certification as private plane by Slovakia.
The first test was in July 2021, and after more tests it has been done the homologation by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency. This model has a 1.6 liter BMW engine and another electric motor with 15 kW. This car can take off in a 300 meters long track and has a weight of 1,000 kilogrammes. It can achieve 190 kilometres per hour in the sky.
Stefan Klein, the driver of the tests and one of the eight specialist that has built the car, has said “This official certification allows us to propel the development of a line of production of efficient flying cars. This decision confirms our capacity of changing the middle range trips for ever”.
This is a hybrid flying car that has an autonomy of 1,000 kilometres to a height of 2,500 meters. In the interior, there are seats for two passengers, and it has four wheels, a propulsion airscrew, retractable wings and a telescopic tail. The designers has claimed that this vehicle can pass from a car to a plane in only 3 minutes.
The company has said that they have invested less than 2 million € on this car. And they have claimed too that they have more than 40,000 AirCars ordered from United States. The idea of the company is to make it a flying taxi, but they have to do them bigger. We have to wait to know more information about it.
