After a five-year hiatus, DJ Calvin Harris releases his new album Funk Wav Bounces Vol.2, his sixth released album that literally puts a soundtrack to his comeback. The 14 songs show great variety in terms of sounds and in which the great effort of the DJ to produce them is noticeable.
This sixth album comes loaded with collaborations very different from each other, although it has a predominance of R&B artists. Calvin Harris has achieved a great fusion so that each song adapts to the style of each of the performers who give voice to the album. Of course, it maintains the electronic touch so characteristic of the DJ. In addition to the dates in which we find ourselves, the album brings with it a summery and relaxed sound, although far removed from previous works such as Motion or 18 Months.
Funk Wav Bounces Vol.2 begins with a brief introduction to give way to two tracks that we already know thanks to the previews that the DJ had given us previously. These tracks are New Money, in collaboration with 21 Savage, and Potion with Dua Lipa and Young Thug. These hits are followed by songs like Woman of The Year and the collaboration with Charlie Puth and Shenseea, Obsessed.
Of all the artists who appear on the album there is one who does it twice and that is Pharrel William, who in addition to being present in Stay With Me, also gives voice to Day One. The latter is the track that has put the finishing touch to this Calvin Harris project and in which he has put a lot of effort and dedication.
The DJ commented months before naming and dating the album that it had not been easy to create the 14 songs and that he had gone through numerous difficulties to bring this work to light. One of them was the coordination with the other artists involved, but he also confessed that he felt that the album had much more to offer and therefore the production processes took longer.
Anyway Funk Wav Bounces Vol.2 is already available on all platforms and is about to position itself in the rankings as Record of the Week, so we can say that, as expected, the return of Calvin Harris has been a total and complete success.
