With two goals in the first half and a genius from Messi in the second, the albiceleste resolve their semifinal against Croatia and will look for their third star in the final.
Argentina continues determined to fulfill a historic destiny, that of becoming world champion. It is a mission that transcends football, that reaches all levels of a country of 46 million inhabitants and that is staged in each match.
It was no exception against Croatia, which they beat in the World Cup semifinal in Qatar with two goals in the first half and some genius from Messi in the second: the ’10’ danced to Gvardiol until he was cartoonish and gave the third goal to Julián Álvarez, sentence of a game less even and tense than expected.
Argentina will play the sixth World Cup final in its history: they won two (1978 and 1986) and lost three (1930, 1990 and 2014). He will look for his third star next Sunday in Lusail, the stadium that he has turned into his own stadium during the tournament, in his attempt to repeat Maradona’s success in 1986 with Messi.
And the rival for Lionel Scaloni’s team is none other than France, current world champion who beat Morocco 2-0 in the second semifinal of the intercontinental tournament. Theo Hernández and Randal Kolo Muani scored for the Europeans.
