Matthew Vaugh Directs Henry Cavill And Dua Lipa In Her Big-Screen Debut
The creator of the Kingsman franchise returns with a new spy comedy. Elly Conway is a lonely writer of spy novels. Her hero Argylle, played by Henry Cavill, is on a mission to dismantle a global spy syndicate. However, when the plots of her books begin to reflect the covert actions of a real spy organization, the line between fiction and reality begins to blur.
While British singer Dua Lipa appeared very briefly in Barbie last year, the music star plays a far more important role in Argylle as LaGrange, the main character’s nemesis. Her co-star Henry Cavill even praised her work in the film.
On its opening weekend, Argylle aims to sell $15 million to $20 million in tickets. This will be enough to dethrone Mean Girls, which has spent three weeks at No. 1. It is still quite a modest opening, especially given its high budget of $200 million.
