Don’t You Worry is the title of the new song that Black Eyed Peas, Shakira and David Guetta have collaborated on. All these musical stars have combined their talents for both the creation of the single and the music video and, as expected, the song is already a hit.
The music video, which has already accumulated more than 16 million views on YouTube, is set in a kind of futuristic society that communicates with other extraterrestrial life forms. The theme of the video revolves around the idea of being able to establish some kind of communication that allows artists to communicate with aliens, and after Will.i.am‘s band is abducted, Shakira starts dancing trying to communicate with them through dance steps.
Or at least that’s what it seems because it doesn’t take them long to realize that Shakira has been hypnotized and is now dancing on the aliens’ side. Somehow it all drifts into a dance duel where they fight to see who has the best moves and then they all go on an intergalactic trip together. It sounds crazy, but the video is pretty funny and the song is a blast.
What’s interesting about the song is the combination of three unique and different styles of the artists to create something common. And yes, it is common to see collaborations between different artists, in fact Shakira recently did one with Raw Alejandro on the song Te Felicito, but this time as with most collaborations, these are artists with more similar styles of music.
In Don’t You Worry more than one musical style is combined, that is to say, the fusion of Anglo and Latin rhythms is created with lyrics that transmit a positive message that makes the song a hit of the summer. This mix of styles is a risky bet, which often fails but other times has very good results.
In fact, Black Eyed Peas have previously collaborated with Shakira and David Guetta separately, creating the songs Girl Like Me and I Gotta Feeling respectively. Girl Like Me accumulated in its day more than 500 million plays and even received a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. And I Gotta Feeling remains to this day the Black Eyed Peas’ most iconic song.
Maybe it’s the chemistry of previous collaborations or the risky bets when it comes to creating music, but what is clear is that the union of talents always brings masterpieces.
