Lucky Hank is an upcoming American television series produced by AMC. The series is based on the 1997 novel Straight Man by Richard Russo. The series is set to premiere on March 19, 2023.
The series was originally announced to be in development at AMC and Tristar Television in April 2022, under the name of the book it was based on, including Aaron Zelman and Paul Lieberstein as showrunners and Bob Odenkirk as executive producer. The first season will have a total of eight episodes.
Lucky Hank follows the story of William Henry Devereaux Jr. who is the reluctant chairman of the English department of a badly underfunded college in the Pennsylvania rust belt. Devereaux’s reluctance is partly rooted in his character, he is a born anarchist, and partly in the fact that his department is more savagely divided than the Balkans.
Lucky Hank’s cast will have the star Bob Odenkirk who has appeared as Saul Goodman on Breaking Bad and its spin-off Better Call Saul. Mireille Enos also joined the cast along with Olivia Scott Welch, Alvina August, and Arthur Keng would join the cast as married professors.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Oscar Nunez, Kyle MacLachlan, Tom Bowe, and Chris Diamantopoulos would also join the cast as guest stars.
