Mfiondu Kabengele will have a new opportunity to show he can have a place in the NBA. The 24 years old inside player has signed two-way contract with the Boston Celtics, a team with which he has played in the Las Vegas Summer League.
In the summer tournament, this Canadian player of Congolese descent has averaged 14.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks with 58,7% shooting from the field, more than remarkable numbers that have helped him get closer to play his third season on the elite of basketball, the NBA.
Chosen 27th in the 2019 draft, he spent his first two years with the Clippers playing 35 games before being traded to Sacramento Kings in a move that allowed the team of Los Angeles to drop below the hard cap. Released by the Kings, he signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers in April to make 16 appearances in which he averaged 4.3 points and 2.9 rebounds in 11.6 minutes per night.
After finding himself without a team for the 2021-2022 season, he finally joined the Rio Grande of the G League to go to 17.5 points and 9.3 rebound per night. We don´t know that plan Ime Udoka will have for him, but what is certain is that he needs to add inner strength, since Daniel Theis has left without anyone joining him in his place.
