Matthieu Blazy presented last February his debut as creative director for Bottega Veneta, after the abrupt exit of Daniel Lee (the previous creative of the brand). His massive work in the shadows for other companies like Maison Margiela, Calvin Klein and Celine; as well as the one he is directing now, is expressed through the big amount of details that every piece show, he know how is to work behind-the-scenes and he want to incorporate this knowledge into all he creates. For the campaign of FW22, that represent his debut runway, is a collection of photos that represent the idea that was behind his debut collection, movement that defines the buyers of Bottega Veneta, which bags are it and accompany them into their journey through day and night. The photos were taken by a wide range of photographers in different locations that reinterprets the artisanal movement of the pieces that the brand put always out.
The Bottega Veneta FW22 show was one to remember, because for a long period of time it was a show from the brand that did not engage in any controversy as we were used to with the previous creative. Matthieu Blazy showed his own take into basic and wearable garment through the artisanal lenses that represent the brand.
The color scheme escapes from the vibrant colors that we were used to and it signifies that the company is entering in a more neutral period of time, where construction and silhouette is more important than an impressive color. A big effort was put in the selection of fabrics, which in some clothes are confused due to the way is used. But overall, is a collection that represent well the style of the designer and incorporate perfectly the codes of the brand, the movement of bags is the concept and we are into it, because after all his bags are it.
