Boys in Blue’s director, Peter Berg has directed films like Deepwater Horizon (2016), Patriots Day (2016), Lone Survivor (2013), Collateral (2004), Friday Night Lights, among others. He also has won awards like an Emmy Award for State of Play (2013).

Boys in Blue has an official trailer, which was released on November 17, 2022. The trailer is available on Youtube through the SHOWTIME Sports channel. The trailer and documentary have scenes from the 2020 protests over the death of George Floyd who was murdered by a police officer in Minneapolis. Floyd’s murder resulted in a global protest movement against historic racism and police brutality. In the United States, protests of racial injustice in mid 2020 were the largest since the Civil Rights movement. The docuseries is primarily about sports, but will also deal with past American social issues of the past three years.
