Bugatti is one of the most expensive automakers, and used to make a lot of limited editions models. One of the most iconic things of the brand is the quad-turbo W-16 engine, but the future electrification of the company has produced that during the Monterey Car Week at Pebble Beach the French company has presented their last car with this iconic engine, the Mistral.
This car has been related to the Chiron, but the brand has given it some changes, like a radical new front end, that looks like more to two ultra-limited editions of the company, the Bugatti Divo and the Bugatti La Voiture Noire. It has a fender-mounted lights and the trademark horseshoe grille at the end of an elongated snout.
The company has not shown any images of a roof, but following the words that the automaker has said to Car and Driver, “the car will be offered with a temporary clip-in panel rather than a full top”. At the rear, the X-shaped taillight elements cross almost the entire width of the car and incorporate illuminated red Bugatti branding. The interior of the car looks like so comfortable, the car shown at Pebble Beach wears a striking yellow and black colour scheme that was inspired by the similarly roofless 1934 Type 57 Grand Raid.
Of course, the engine is the 8.0-liter W-16, that includes four turbochargers that produces 1,578 horsepower. This model is a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive. The automaker has not revealed the top speed, but they have claimed that it will be “at least 260 mph”, and have said that they want to “become the fastest roadster in the world”.
Bugatti has said that they are only fabricating 99 Mistrals, so it can be considered a limited edition. As is used to be in Bugatti, this car is so expensive, each model has been priced in $5 million, in spite of the price, all the copies has been sold, and the company has said that they expect to start the deliveries in 2024.
