One of the greatest designers alive, Rei Kawakubo, still envolve herself into all of his personal projects as the creative director of all the Comme des Garçons lines. Since the beginning he has always break every rule that dictaminate the Paris Fashion Council and in every show he show something different or never seen before. Her relationship with Yohji Yamamoto inspired herself to be better as a fashion designer, but then when the relationship finalized and she started with a business man she got involve into creating different lines that explore different part of the fashion industry. In Comme des Garçons Shirt, she expressed the obsession she has with shirts and how she think is the key piece of every mens wardrobe. Taking that as the root of the brand, in each collection she played with the structure, silhouette, texture and pattern of the conventional botton up shirt.

The Comme des Garcons Shirt SS23 served as a reminder that the work ethic of Rei Kawakubo still fresh and adapting into new trends and generating new ones. This time she explore in a classical way the patterns of some white shirts, putting ruffles and different layers into the classic pattern. In other examples, she played with the patchwork technique to create deconstruction in one of the most used silhouettes of the market. She also play with the styling a lot with every look and also she get a use of ties in a informal way, quite radical and contrasting from the central garment.

Some collaboration that might be interesting are the Asics shoes that the models have, instead of the classic Nikes that they used to wear. The brand also made some of the shirts with a colorful (or not that much) strawberries and mushrooms. We can see other intricate prints in some other pieces that explode my mind in some many ways. She just want to center her work around one item alone, but still put all her effort into creating some interesting idea.
