Coachella is back and we couldn’t be more elated. For those who don’t know Coachella is a great music festival that takes place over two weekends for three days each weekend. This event has established itself as one of the biggest music festivals in the world. This year’s edition should also be an indicator for the multi-million dollar music touring industry, which is looking to get back on its feet after the impact suffered during the two years of the pandemic.
It is held in Indio, California, USA in the Coachella Valley in the Colorado desert (hence the name). It features established global artists as well as emerging artists and assembled groups from different musical genres such as alternative rock, indie rock, pop, hip hop, electronic and K-pop as well as art installations and sculptures among others.
The first weekend has come to an end and the things that have happened on the stages of the festival have left us stunned. Harry Styles has swept the stage singing all his most iconic songs and his new hit As It Was. In addition, he surprised everyone by bringing Shania Twain on stage to sing his two most classic songs: Man, I Feel Like a Woman! and You’re Still the One.
The singer confessed to being a fan of Shania and when introducing her, he explained what she means to him: “In the car with my mother when I was a kid, this woman taught me how to sing. She also made me see that men are trash. To you, to the memories you gave me with my mother, I will be eternally grateful. It fills me with joy that you are here with us tonight. This is very special to me.“
But Harry wasn’t the only one who triumphed. Billie Eilish, the youngest artist to ever headline the bill put on an incredible show by joining artists like Khaled to sing the track they have together Lovely or Damon Albarn of Gorillaz to perform Feel Good Inc.
The Weeknd, Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, Daniel Caesar with Justin Bieber or Swedish House Mafia were some of the artists who also delighted the audience with their songs and offered a show worthy of a festival of this caliber.
In addition, K-pop group 2NE1 reunited and Pablo Vittar became the first drag queen to perform on the Coachella stage. Another first occurred when K-pop star, GOT7 member and Chinese-born singer Jackson Wang took the stage as part of the 88rising main stage performance, becoming the first Chinese singer to perform at the festival.
Undoubtedly a weekend with many anecdotes that we will always remember and that have helped us to prepare for the next weekend.
