The Mandalorian is an American space western television series created by Jon Favreau for the Disney+ streaming service. It is the first live-action installment in the Star Wars franchise, starting five years after the events of Return of the Jedi (1983).
The Mandalorian premiered on November 12, 2019, on Disney+. The eight episodes of the first season received rave reviews, and were nominated for Outstanding Drama at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards, and won the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards seven times. The second season premiered on October 30, 2020 which was critically acclaim, and the third season is scheduled to premiere on March 1, 2023. A fourth season is in development. The interconnected spin-off series Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and the Book of the Skeleton Crew expanded on the Mandalorian timeline.
Five years after Return of the Jedi (1983) and the fall of the Galactic Empire, The Mandalorian follows Din Djarin, a lone Mandalorian bounty hunter in the outer reaches of the galaxy. He was hired by the remaining Imperial forces to retrieve the child Grogu, but he fled to protect the child. As they attempted to reunite Grogu with his kind, they were hunted by Moff Gideon, who wanted to exploit Grogu’s connection to the Force. The two then head to Mandalore so Din Jarin can atone for his crime of removing the helmet.

Season 3 will soon arrive to Disney+, with a total of eight episodes. A development of a third season started in April 2022, and it was officially confirmed that December. Filming began in October 2021 and wrapped in March 2022. Disney also confirmed a fourth installment is in development
