Zoey Deutch and Dylan O’Brien star in the teaser trailer for Not Okay, Hulu’s upcoming satire film. Having previously worked together on the gangster drama. The Suit, Deutch and O’Brien reunited for a very different film. It first gained traction in August, when fans reacted when O’Brien sported blonde hair and fake tattoos

Not This Good was described as the story of a young woman (played by Deutch) who, in her failed attempts to find fame and friends, ends up faking a trip to Paris.

She hopes the trip will give her social media presence a boost. However, a terrifying incident occurs in the real world and she becomes part of the fake trip. From all reports, it didn’t seem like the comedy would feature a lead character that would be easy to root for.

The official synopsis for It’s Not Okay reads as follows: Danni Sanders (Zoey Deutch), an aimless aspiring writer with no direction, no friends, no romantic prospects and, worst of all, no followers, fakes an Instagram-friendly trip to Paris in hopes of boosting her social media clout. When a terrifying incident strikes the City of Lights, Danni unwittingly falls for a bigger lie than she ever imagined. She “returns” as a heroine, even strikes up an unlikely friendship with Rowan (Mia Isaac), a school shooting survivor dedicated to social change, and picks up the man of her dreams, Colin (Dylan O’Brien).

As an influencer and advocate, Danni finally has the life and the audience she’s always wanted. But it’s only a matter of time before the facade breaks, and she learns the hard way that the internet loves a takedown.

Not Cool Based on a true story?

No, Not Cool is not based on a true story and the characters in the film are completely fictional, except for a brief guest appearance by social media influencer Caroline Calloway. In addition, Colin’s character’s appearance was inspired by the likes of Machine Gun Kelly, Pete Davidson and Justin Bieber.
