Ed Sheeran has been missing from social media for no apparent reason. Just a few days ago he reappeared on Instagram saying that during these months he had lived turbulent things but surely none of his fans would have ever imagined what really happened to him. To end this intrigue the singer has decided to share with his followers what happened.
Through a text that he has uploaded to this same social network he has confessed that a year ago his wife, Cherry Seaborn, with whom he has been married since 2019, was diagnosed with a tumor. The woman was at the time pregnant with Ed’s second child, so doctors told her that until she gave birth she could not have surgery to end the tumor. Luckily the mother’s illness did not interfere with the life of little Jupiter, who was born in May 2022 completely healthy. For the moment there is no more information about Cherry.
The singer has assured that during this time he was in a period full of sadness and anxiety due to the fear of the health of his pregnant wife and the pain of the recent death of his best friend, Jamal Edwards. The famous music producer who largely helped Ed’s success suffered a sudden cardiac arrest due to the consumption of toxic substances such as cocaine along with alcohol.
Taking advantage of this moment of sincerity with his fans the interpreter of Perfect decided to give them also good news. He announced that his album Subtrack will be released on May 5th. About it he has mentioned that after having lived these things he has realized that until now when he wrote music he focused on giving his fans what he thought they would like, however he states that this has changed. “The trap door is opening in my soul. For the first time, I’m not trying to create an album that people like, I’m just getting something that’s honest and true to my adult life”, Ed said.
Then he has confessed to his fans that this is because although he had been working for it during the last 10 years these circumstances that he has had to live made him decide to start all over again. “In early 2022, a series of events changed my life, my mental health and ultimately my way of seeing music and art. Writing songs is my therapy. It helps me make sense of my feelings. I wrote without thinking about how the songs would be, I just wrote what came out. And in just over a week I replaced a decade of work with my darkest thoughts,” told the British.
As if the tumor of his wife and the death of his friend were not enough, the singer also had to face a trial in the same year. In it he had to defend himself from the accusation of alleged plagiarism of one of his songs, Thinking Out Loud. Marvin Gaye claimed that Ed had copied for this song the music he created for Let’s get on it.
Although 2022 has been the worst year of his life, this 2023 Sheeran has started it with a great desire to eat the world. He has managed to turn the bad time he lived with all these events into inspiration to continue succeeding with his new projects.
