Whether we like it or not, the reality is that the electric scooter has surpassed its facet as a vehicle for individual urban trips to be present in many areas of society, including competition.
And it is that the eSkootr, the Electric Scooter World Championship, in which professional pilots participate and receives extensive international media coverage, has just started.
The eSkootr Championship organized by businessman Hrag Sarkissian and former driver Khalil Beshir has races in both Europe and the United States. The eSkootr grid is made up of 30 pilots divided into 10 teams. Each team has between three and four members, both men and women. In fact, almost half of the grid is made up of women. And they can be found from professional pilots of other modalities to novices.
As is logical, the electric scooters that participate in this championship differ a lot from those that we usually see in our environment.
Under the name of S1-X they are manufactured by YCOM, an Italian brand with experience in F1 and FIA Endurance. They weigh 35 kilos and are capable of reaching speeds of over 100 km/h. They are powered by two 6kW electric motors with a 1.5kWh battery supplied by Williams Advanced Engineering. The structure is made of carbon fiber and both the front and rear suspension are adjustable, allowing it to fold in curves up to a 50º inclination.
