Seeing the Spices Girls together again after more than 20 years since the band broke up is a dream for many of their fans that has almost been fulfilled this weekend. Although they have reunited twice in the past recent years to perform together, this time the occasion was due to the 50th birthday celebration of one of the members, Geri Halliwell (now Horner). For this event the most famous girl band has met almost completely.
The celebration of Geri’s birthday was scheduled for September but due to the death of the Queen of England, Elizabeth II, they had to postpone it to keep mourning for the beloved monarch. Despite this inconvenience, the more than 120 guests who where invited to the party definitely had a great night. Although the absence of Mel B was noted a lot, among the attendees were the rest of her Spice Girls: Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton and Mel C.
As a place for the celebration, the known as the Ginger Spice, chose her house in Oxfordshire, specifically the barn that she has renovated. The singer has made it clear on many occasions through her instagram posts that this is her favorite house since she has there goats, chickens and donkeys among other animals.
The 400,000-pound party went a long way, from drinking a lot of champagne to having the Spice Girls remember old times. During the evening the girls found a time to go out on the floor and dance to their most successful songs such as their famous song Say You’ll Be There. The ex-football player, David Beckham, another attendee, recorded this emotional moment and shared it on social networks with a message explaining how special it was to capture that moment of the girls. His wife, Victoria, also decided to share this moment with her fans through TikTok showing how happy they were to be together but that they missed the Scary Spice, Mel B.
Another occasion to highlight during the party happened later, at the end of the dinner, Christian Horner, Geri’s current husband, delivered a speech dedicated to his wife on the occasion of her birthday and then asked her to dance, being they the main protagonists of the moment.
With this meeting the members of the Spice Girls have shown that although the musical group has been separated for quite some time their friendship never ends, as David Beckham commented. After seeing this, some people think this may be a preview of a future return of the 5 girls to the stage with a tour that is rumored to be scheduled for 2023.
