The Italian brand heats hard with its new summer surreal collection
New GCDS’ campaign SS22 brights about a fresh wave of what is to come next warmer seasons. A proposal where the sea’s mythological magic meets high fashion on a sun-drenched surrealism concept. Intended-to-swim props (with oversize silhouettes and fantasy essences) star the whole collection where all seems to come from a summer fairytale: sandcastles remain immaculate, fish float in the air, and there is a subtle reminiscence of “The birth of Venus” by Sandro Botticelli.
There is also an evident reference to Japanese pirate manga series One Piece on the print of skulls with straw hats (one of the most iconic symbols of this cartoon). Both traditional and modern view of the sea and its mysteries play along in both garments and shooting taken by Javier Ruiz in Madrid, continuing Italian streetwear brand’s seasonal tendency of working with Spanish collaborators: Arón Piper, Rebeca Solana, Emmanuel Yebe and Hernán Cano, among others.
In conclusion, a modern fairytale brought into a striking every day, ready to hit the streets. Tank tops, cargo sweatpants, swim shorts, track pants, t-shirts and shirts are the main pieces of this new collection, mostly covered with universal flag bandanas or chains prints/overdyed, when there is no a GCDS’ logo taking up the front of the piece.
