Matthew M. Williams presented his winter 2022 collection for Givenchy, during the Paris Fashion Week.
This season, the Givenchy brand opted for a collection defined by its simplicity and austerity in dark green and black tones. The second proposal of Matthew M. Williams, raised so by, as he explained before the show for his current interest in <make clothes that people wear, and that ease, so I guess what I found interesting was to find those archetypes for today”
The mainly “streetwear” collection consisted of layered and tiered T-shirts and sweatshirts with logo graphics in the vein of metal band merchandise; baggy jeans and leather tracksuits. We also saw voluminous, floor-length coats floating along a stadium-like structure bathed in light from four LED lamps that resembled soccer fields.
Drawing on embellishments and constructions he found in the house’s archives-from Audrey Hepburn’s pearls to the intricate back of an evening gown-he translated Hubert de Givenchy’s decorative language into the most current trends.
