Still with the memory of the NBA title that he won last year, Stephen Curry, star of the Golden State Warriors, assured last Sunday that he is in very good physical condition and that he is eager to face the challenge of retaining the ring in the new season.
With Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Jordan Poole as his teammates (all of them back for the new season), Curry performed an excellent level last season and became the first player in NBA history to score more than 3,000 triples. In addition, the point guard was proclaimed All-Star MVP with a colossal display from the perimeter: 16 triples for 50 points in total.
He averaged 25.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.3 assists throughout the regular season, but his contribution increased dramatically in the playoffs , especially in the Finals against the Celtics when he averaged 31.2 points (with more than 5 triples), 6 rebounds and 5 assists on average per game.
As reported by Anthony Slater of The Athletic portal, Steve Kerr said Thompson did not play the Golden State Warriors’ first two 2022-23 NBA preseason games because they are being cautious. Klay would have his first minutes on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at 8:30 p.m. ET against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Warriors are the betting favorites to win the 2023 NBA championship, followed by the runner-up Celtics. The Nets, Bucks and Clippers round out the top five.
Last season, people weren’t 100% sure about what to expect from the team because Klay Thompson was returning mid-season from a multiple season-long injury and the team missed the playoffs for two straight years. As the season progressed, fans started realizing what the Golden State Warriors were truly capable of. This season, everyone will know from day one what the Warriors are all about.
