A warm and nice afternoon in Castel del Monte was happening when the last Gucci show started. Alessandro Michele invited a bunch of celebrities to the middle of Puglia where they were going to take part in an immersive story inspired in the Middle Ages. Everyone was excited to see the latest idea that the designer wanted to present, even the ambassadors of the brand, like Måneskin or Jared Leto. After a few collections where collaboration were a main part of them, in this case the storytelling design by Michele came back and stronger than ever.
The theme of this collection is a mixed between medieval and cosmogony, a fascination of layered references and a true exposure of love for history by Alessandro Michele. Is trying to give a answer to the origin of the world through Middle Ages, all together creating contemporary garments that empowered the person who wear it. Also the designer paid homage to collections from other years, even when he was not in the position as a creative director. The location gives off vibes of splendor and decay because its archeological remains. Also the building is perfectly measure and proportionate and they cross each other as if by magic occurred. The reference to different constellations is important to explain because they are signs and symbols in the nature, just as the clothes that the designer wants to create.
For him fashion is deeply connected to life and to humanity so he wants to share this message through the pieces. In some of them metamorphosis is the main reference since the own body of the model is what finish the look, it become another piece of clothes more. As in every collection of the current creative director of Gucci, every model tells a different a story that integrate with each other, full of historical references mixed with incendiary shimmer.
