The ex boss of Mercedes, Norbert Haug was really surprised when he saw how Ferrari gave away the victory to Red Bull on Monaco. However, the German is not surprised of what happen and he remembers the mistakes (like on Monaco) as part of the Ferrari´s history.
Nobert Haug was the guy who directed Mercedes on their return to Formula 1. Despite of he is out for more than 10 years, he knows well to those who were his rivals and he said that he is not surprised of the strategical mistake of Ferrari at Monaco. Haug remembers the big pressure that is inside the team.
“What Ferrari did in Monaco the Sunday will not going down the history of Formula 1 as a great strategy, but rather as an unnecessary stroke of genius, they make it themselves” said Haug on RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland.
“From the outside, it seems that there is not so much internal pressure in Ferrari that they want to make good decisions and the normal decisions would be the best ones” added Haug.
Haug regrets that Ferrari gave Red Bull the victory of that way and he said that he could lose relevant points for the tittle.
“Ferrari gave an advantage in Monaco and converted a clear victory of his candidate for the tittle, Charles Leclerc into a fourth place and gave to his rival Verstappen a completely unnecessary present. And, in the worst case, a decisive end on the world championship“.
However, Haug is not surprised about this mistakes and he thinks that the pressure will not go away on a short term.
“Unfortunately, it is part of Ferrari history that such mistakes occur from time to time On the next race, this pressure will not decrease” said Haug to close.
