We’ve probably all seen an episode of How I Met Your Mother at some point in our lives. You don’t have to be a fan of the series to recognize that it has been a success and that it is one of those productions to enjoy without worries. Its plot, as many will already know, revolves around Ted Mosby who, in the year 2030, decides to tell his two sons the story of how he met their mother.
All this happens through flashbacks in which you can see the day-to-day life of Ted and his friends and how Ted struggles to find the love of his life and the mother of his children. This epic series came to an end in 2014 after nine seasons, after almost 10 years of broadcasting.
But, as it could not be otherwise, every good series lately comes with a spin-off and How I Met Your Mother could not be left behind. There had been many attempts for this story to have continuations, but all of them were in vain. But this time is the good one. In the series entitled How I Met Your Father, Sophie, starring Hilary Duff, takes the baton from Ted and it’s she who tells her son the story of how she met his father.
What we see in this new edition is the older Sophie, played by Kim Cattral, telling the story to her son in 2050. In each episode we discover the story that takes us to the present where Sophie and her group of friends are going to discover who they are, what they expect from life and how to fall in love in the era where dating apps and unlimited options invade the day-to-day life of society. The cast also includes Chris Lowell, Francia Raisa, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran and Suraj Sharma, among others.
At the moment, the story is more open because the creators of the new series are interested in listening to their fans, so they will remain somewhat more open than the creators of the predecessor. The final scene of Mosby’s children was filmed eight years before the end of the series, something that will not happen in this case.
Although in Spain we are still waiting for the premiere, which will be on Disney+ on May 11, in the United States the series is already coming to an end on the Hulu platform. After the success of this first season, it has been confirmed that it will be renewed for a second season that will have twice as many episodes as the first one.
