Long after the last episode of the well-known teen series Lizzie McGuire, her lead actress, Hillary Duff, has confessed that filming it caused her serious problems.
Hillary has recently made known in an interview with Women’s Health Australia magazine that although for the fans of the series the problems of the protagonist were very funny, in real life, for her, they were not, they led her to have problems such as an eating disorder and with her body image.
Lizzie McGuire is a two-season hit that premiered in 2001 on Disney Channel. It’s about a girl (Hillary Duff) who faces all kinds of adventures, from loves and crazy teachers to anorexia. In it, in addition to the friendly and loving relationship between the protagonist and another character called Gordon, a secondary plot is also shown in which the lives of the rest of his friends are included. The highlight is that Lizzie has a version of her in the form of a cartoon that is intertwined with the actors.
The actress has confessed that during this moment of her life, in the middle of adolescence, she was constantly stressed and pressured by fame. At 17, all she saw was that all the actresses were thin, which is why she started having problems with food. Now, at 35, Duff remembers it as a horrific moment.
She has recognized that what saved her at that time was focusing only on her and her health. She has clarified that she had a lot of support from his family and friends but that the one who helped her the most was Dominic Leeder, her personal trainer, who was also interviewed by this magazine. «I wanted to make sure she was eating the right amount of macros for the goal I needed» said the coach, adding that «Setting the new goal was a struggle. What we ended up doing was maintaining what we had while still having a fantastic life balance/work that is important to her».
Currently Hillary has commented during the interview that she devotes her time to sleep as necessary and balance her diet. To achieve this she has chosen to surround herself with people who have the same idea as her in health issues. “(I am) appreciating my health, doing activities that make me feel strong instead of just improving the outside of my body,” commented the interpreter of How I met your father. She also told that she is proud of her body because it has given her three children.
