She’ll Star Alongside Aziz Ansari, Seth Rogen, And Keanu Reeves
Aziz Ansari is making his feature directorial debut with Good Fortune, a comedy whose plot is shrouded in secrecy. This will be Ansari’s second attempt to make his directorial debut. The star of Parks and Recreation was supposed to work on the comedic drama Being Mortal for Searchlight, but production was suspended in 2022 over complaints about actor Bill Murray’s inappropriate behavior on set. This new project will be completely separate from the previous one.
Lauren Keyana Palmer, also known as Keke Palmer, born on 26 August 1993, is an American R&B and pop singer and actress from Harvey, a small town in the southern suburbs of Chicago. She made her acting debut in 2004 in the film Barbershop 2: Back in Business, alongside Queen Latifah. Palmer has also appeared in a number of TV series, including ER, Cold Case, New York Special Victims Unit and the lead role in the Nickelodeon sitcom True Jackson. At the time, she was the highest-paid child star on television, earning $20,000 per episode. Since then, she has won numerous awards, including two Primetime Emmy Awards, and has appeared in series such as Scream Queens and Nope. Keke Palmer is also the host of her own podcast.
So the first film by Aziz Ansari, who was himself accused of sexual assault in 2018, will finally be Good Fortune for the studio Lionsgate. Seth Rogen, who was already in the cast of Being Mortal, and Keanu Reeves will be part of this project, written by Ansari himself. His production company will present it to distributors worldwide at the Cannes Marché du film — the biggest film market in the world and commercial platform for the Cannes Film Festival— next month, while Ansari will be shooting in Los Angeles at the same time.
