On the last 23 laps, Kurt Busch advanced to his brother Kyle and then to Kyle Larson to get it back the leadership and win the race of the NASCAR Cup Series the Sunday at Kansas.
Kurt Busch dominated a good part of the race, but he lost the first place during a round of boxes stop under yellow flag in favour of Kyle, that led on a restart with 23 laps left of the 267 planned.
Kurt was on the fourth position before come back to the leadership. After that Larson passed Kyle on the resumption, Kurt reached to Kyle on the second position at the lap 237.
From that point, Kurt got it back on a patient way some metres regarding Larson and he passed on the curve 3 with 8 laps left until the end of the race. He was on the leadership with an advantage of 1,413 seconds to achieved the victory.
This victory is the first one of Busch as team member of 23 XI Racing, that is a co-ownership of the NBA legend Michael Jordan and of the driver of the Denny Hamlin Cup, and the second one for the organization.
Busch, 43 years old, ended up being the driver who led the more laps. On this race with 116 and with the fastest car of the weekend. On the race were a lot of problems with the tyres of the drivers and some mistakes with the exit from boxes. So the result of this race was a doubt until the end.
“It is all a matter of team work. I do not this alone“, said Busch. He reached his 34º victory of his career. “The way that Toyota helps us to me and my little brother has been very important only on the familiar appearance. Bubba (Wallace) it was a great teammate“.
“This is our first victory with the car Nº45 and with the Jordan brand on the bonnet I felt that I had to win like the GOAT, run like the GOAT and I had to win against Kyles. I won both, the `Kyle and Kyle show´”.
“Is the most rewarding work from zero with a completely new car“, said Busch after he was asked for the work to carry a team to a Victory Lane.
Kyle Busch was third, Hamlin fourth and the winner of the pole, Christopher Bell, ended on top 5.
