Luka Doncic led the Dallas Mavericks to victory in overtime against the New York Knicks 126-121 in a game that will go down in franchise and NBA history. The Slovenian achieved a personal scoring record by signing 60 points, also a Dallas record, which were rounded off with a triple-double of 21 rebounds and ten assists.
The Knicks thought they had neutralized their rival when they won 103-112 with 33 seconds to go, but then the local comeback began. After intentionally missing a free throw and scoring on the rebound, Doncic forced five extra minutes and completed a dream performance.
“A lot of people asked me about it in the locker room, and I told them that I thought we had won. That’s why I addressed the public like that. I thought we had won the game, and then I saw that it was tied. I was like ‘ugh'”, he confessed when describing his mid-range shot that tied the game 115-115 with 1.0 seconds remaining.
In the end, he had the first 60-point mark in Mavericks history, the first 60-20-10 game in NBA history, and the best performance so far this season in the league.
