- At Alexander Magazin we have a theory: success is not about getting there, but about staying there. How do you manage to stay at a good level in your genre?
To keep up with the level, you can’t rest much. You always have to be ready to listen to critical opinions, and do what you love, which is art, music, and going to the studio. I think there are many qualities that make an artist. But you have to cover all areas well to keep seeing results. I don’t focus on fame but I’m going to do what I like, it’s the only way to enjoy it.
- Is it better to release a single at a certain time or to release an album?
Well, I really like both. But I think that right now I would like to give people and my fans a lot of singles, a lot of collaborations, and a lot of solo songs. And one more album for a special song for when I see that my fans need an album from me. In fact, I’m looking forward to going on tour in Spain in July. I’m going to kill it.
- What are your other passions besides music?
I have a passion for entertaining the public and my fans. Soccer is another of my hobbies, when I was younger I played it a lot. Thanks to God, I was able to make a movie that comes out next month and you guys are going to be able to see it on Netflix, Hulu, Disney + and a lot of other things that are coming out there.
- What kind of series do you like?
I actually really like series like Élite. Actually, my family has always been very active with that series and in the end I ended up watching it because they kept telling me to watch it. Series with action, you know. In fact, I like the world of motorsport and speed and recently I saw a series about Formula 1 that is super cool too.
- What series are you currently watching?
I’ve just finished watching Élite and it’s a shame that Esther Expósito is no longer in it.
- What series would you recommend?
Well, from all the ones I watched in the past, I would recommend Neymar: The Perfect Chaos, the series that dives into the backstage of the athlete and his controversies. I loved the series. The truth is that I really identify myself with the series and the character. It reminds me of when I played soccer at a young age and you know that’s part of me.
- What music do you listen to? What does Lunay have in his playlist?
Actually I listen to everything: rap, reggaeton, pop and a lot of kids from Puerto Rico and more now so that many musicians are getting noticed from the island. I have more than just one style of music that I like to listen to.
- What artists do you like that have nothing to do with the urban genre?
Well, as I listen to everything, in the end I like the great artists that are currently playing: Madonna or Rosalía, who is experimenting with many genres. Overall, I have a lot of respect for her and her music and she is a superstar. I would like to collaborate with “Rosi” at some point. When she fancies. But I actually identified myself with Romeo Santos and his music, his career, and many things that Romeo reminds me of. Rauw Alejandro and Myke towers are also smashing it. Cheers to the whole team.
- How would you define yourself as a person?
Lunay is a very active and steady person who never stops working and who is always innovating. I like going to the studio, recording, thinking of new songs and learning from music. I consider myself a musical genius who enjoys what he does and his fans and I will continue to polish that, as we say.
- We are a fashion magazine, what is Lunay’s style as an artist and what is Lunay’s style off stage?
When it comes to getting dressed, I have a freestyle, like without rules, so I can wear any color. I like oversized clothes and feeling comfortable. I like things that are really about clothing, I know that there are simple and essential things. For example, something as simple as the hem of a pair of pants, I’m a big fan of seeing myself in different hems. Then, off stage and off camera, the truth is that whwn I’m at home sometimes I’m in my pajamas and other times I wear tight clothes. But in general, what I like is to vary and try things out, without anything that ties me down, and always with a cool style.
- When you go on tour, who chooses the outfits for each show?
Well, thanks to God I choose everything myself. I prefer to be present when it comes to choosing the clothes before I go on stage. And this is something I really like to do and then see more photos that come to me. Designing, creating the combinations is something I like to do myself.
