“You won’t break my soul” wrote the singer on her instagram account
As every year the Grammy Awards are full of funny and strange anecdotes. This year can be highlighted when Rosalía knew that she has won one of the awards while being in bed. Another moment that marked the gala was the appearance of Madonna. It was the first time that the singer showed her new look in public. Without a doubt, she has managed to surprise everyone as she is unrecognizable.
During the ceremony the singer was in charge of delivering the statuette to ‘Best Duo/Pop Group Collaboration’. This category has been won by Kim Petras (the first transgender woman to receive this award). From the moment the artist took the stage, the audience was amazed and not for the best.
After the gala, social media was flooded with criticism about Madonna’s face, even from her fans. “I’m a big fan, but stop the plastic surgeries, please,” one twitter user wrote. Seeing all the negative comments the 64-year-old singer has decided to answer through her social networks. In her Instagram account she published several videos in which she was seen enjoying after the gala. Alongside these she added a text in which she made it clear how disappointed she was.
During the Grammys the performer of Like a prayer gave a great empowerment speech emphasizing the historical moment they were living that night with the performance of Sam Smith and Kim Petra. It was the first one starring a person who declares non-binary gender and another transgender. Despite its importance, this speech did not seem to enter the minds of the public.
Madonna feels it’s sad that instead of talking about her words people have decided to do it on “close-up photos of me taken with a long lens camera by a press photographer that distorts anyone’s face!”. After explaining this she has not hesitated to answer the criticisms about her image saying that they are the fruit of “age discrimination and misogyny that permeates the world in which we live”. It is clear that the artist does not plan to apologize for anything that happened but that she even wants to be an example for all women. Her wish is that none more have to live what has touched her and that their lives will be easier.
