Maserati launched this year Maserati MC20, a new twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 engine that generates 621 horsepower and passing from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 3.2 seconds in route to a 202 mph top speed. Well, now the Italian luxury automaker has presented a plan to improve this model, this plan has been called Project24 and wants to make track-exclusive supercar based on the MC20 and sporting a wild with just 62 examples.
At the moment, the company has only shown three images of this project, in those images can be seen towering rear wing, ankle-slicing front splitter, and thin LED headlights and taillights, a boxy rear diffuser, center-mounted dual exhaust pipes, and plenty of scoops and vents carved into the slinky two-door body. It has an aggressive bodywork around a carbon fiber monocoque.
The Italian company has revealed some information about the engine and the power of those models. It will have the same Nettuno 3.0-liter V-6 as the MC20 engine, but it has received a turbocharged boost horsepower to 740. The transmission has been changed from a eight-speed dual-clutch transmission from the original MC20 to a six-speed sequential racing gearbox operated via paddle shifters of this Project24. They are maintaining the rear-wheel drive of the original version, but they are making it 500 pounds lighter, it will be a 2,755 pounds car.
It will be ridden over 18-inch forged aluminium wheels wrapped in slick racing tires and the brake system called Ventilated Brembo should provide immense stopping power. And, as the automaker has said, it has been designed according with FIA safety requirements. The interior can be designed with racing seats, and buyers will also have the option to add a rear-view camera and it will come with air conditioning.
This is all the information we know about this Project24. It is expected to be launched during the next year, but it is not a confirmed information. The price of the original model is over $250,000, so this model will be more expensive. We will have to wait until the Italian brand give us the information about the launch date and the price of those 62 units of this Project24.
