Mercedes presented this plan in a conference in Frankfurt in 2017 with the name “Project One”. This plan consisted in making a hyper-sports car, with a F1 engine. At least, this car has been revealed by the German automaker, but they have been so late because it is a very complicated car. As the person in charge of this plan since 2019, Marco Lochmahr, has said “This is the most complex car in the world, we are in the limit of what is possible”.
This AMG One looks like a mix of a race car, a LMP1 and a super-sports. For example, it includes some modes, the Strat2 is the most sport one, the hydraulic system go down 37 mm in the front part and 30 mm in the back part, at the same time, the air extractors in the wheels open, putting the four flippers in vertical position, making it more aerodynamic.
The most impressive thing is the engines, it has five engines, four electrics and one fuel, it is a hybrid. The engine is a V6 supercharged with a turbo, it produces 574 horsepower. This engine was used during the F1 season in 2017, and has four electric engines to help it. Each of this four electric engines generates more than 100 horsepower, at the end, all this engines produce 1,063 horsepower.
It has competition technology, the batteries are the first of the new Mercedes plan called AMG E Performance, a battery that can be charged with an incredible speed, like the races cars. That allows an incredible refrigeration, as the automaker has said “A high technology cooling liquid covers with its flow all the cells and cooling them individually”.
The car has a manual transmission with seven gears, and count with six different modes: Race Safe, Race, EV, Individual, Race Plus y Strat 2, but the last two has been made for to be used on a circuit only. The maximum speed is more than 350 km/h, and can past from 0 to 300 km/h in just 15.6 seconds.
This car is on sale for 2.275 million €, and can be coloured with any colour. At the moment, the first to receive this car will be famous people, because there is only 275 copies, and has been sold. It is expected to be delivered to their owners during the next months, but until this moment, this car will be driven during the Goodwood Festival Of Speed.
