Since BMW bought Mini in 2000, the brand has been increasing their sales, specially since the launch of Mini Cooper in 2002. The last major update was in 2013, so this teaser that Mini has been launched show that they are preparing a new update in their vehicles. This camouflaged vehicle display that are trying to change their cars and give them a new paint job, but all the people can recognize it is a Mini.
In this teaser, can be saw that this Mini will be a battery-electric hardtop that’s undergoing cold-weather testing. But they have not given any detail about that all-electric powertrain, and the brand also has not mentioned which internal-combustion engines are destined for this model.
The company has secured that it “maximizes the experience for our customers through its electrified go-kart feeling”, and that they are “focused on handling prowess even as the Mini will likely be heavier with the electric powertrain”. We can take the example of the Mini Cooper SE, that sees nearly 400 extra pounds over the base, manual-transmission Mini Cooper’s 2,769-pound curb weight.
We have to wait until Mini reveals more information about this new generation later this year. But this is not the only thing they are working for, they are preparing a new generation of crossover, and making an important change for the brand, the elimination of two-door hatchbacks from automaker lineup, the trend of the brand, to substitute it for three door variant of the next generation Mini. Comes a great refresh of the Mini’s lineup.
