He has over 640 thousand followers on Instagram and over 4 million on TikTok. Fashion enthusiast, actor, dancer, student, the Spanish influencer Miquel Melero he tells us more about all his different facets.
At what age did you start using social networks?
Since I was little, I have always copied my sister in everything. She was the one who wanted me to open an Instagram account when I started high school, and probably on all the other networks that were around at the time as well. We took a couple of photos together and posted them. From that moment on, I started following trends, until now.
When did you realize you could make a career out of it?
It happened during quarantine. I had never used TikTok. In the beginning, I didn’t think of it as a serious app, but then, I noticed that it was becoming very popular among my social circle and my friends were sending me videos from this platform. That’s when I decided to download it and saw that not only were there funny videos, but there were also people making a living out of it and starting a new era of quality fashion, lifestyle, fitness… So, I began following very famous TikTokers and making videos.
What’s your relationship with your followers like?
I have a very healthy and close relationship with all my followers. We encourage each other with any of our concerns and support each other. In the end, If I am where I am now, it is all thanks to them. Fortunately, I do not have many haters, which I know it is something common among social media.
What do you like best about being an influencer?
What I like the most is not the mere fact of being recognized as an influencer. I prefer everything that stems from the status of being well-known on social networks. I’m getting professional opportunities and thanks to the exposure I have been able to achieve through social media, I’ve been able to meet and work with many brands and people that I already followed previously. It is also opening my way to different artistic and professional fields.
You’re very active on Instagram and TikTok, but which do you prefer? Do you use them differently?
It’s hard to decide on the two apps. I love them both and they are both helping me grow my audience. I started taking both apps seriously at the same time, but I’ve always seen that on TikTok, the type of content I upload is more organic and fun. After all, it is the one my generation uses the most at this point. On the other hand, on Instagram, I can reach a wider audience, give more selective content and maintain a more professional image. I can say that I like them both and I like their differences.
Could you tell us about your most viral video?
The most viral video on my profile has 60M views. I’m always surprised when a Tik Tok goes viral. I find it amazing how videos can get so many views. Sometimes, we don’t realize that there are more people who have seen our video or have liked it than we think of. If we were to physically see all the people who watch our videos, we would be afraid to see that we are so exposed to the world. It is for this reason that we must not forget that all the content we upload can help or harm someone or even ourselves. We must be aware of what we share.
On a recent Instagram post, you mentioned you were studying for an exam. What is it like to conjugate a social media career with your studies?
Luckily, social media is a versatile and portable thing. There are many types of content creators, lifestyle, fitness, fashion, foodie… In my case, not being in a specific niche, I have the opportunity to make content of all situations in my life. For example, sharing my student concerns, being between acting castings, plans with my friends, places that I like and find beautiful… I am also a theatrical dancer and I have shared some videos in the past.
Can you tell us a bit about your next projects or things you would like to do moving forward? What is your biggest long-term goal?
I love the performing world. Since I was a child, I have been singing, dancing, and acting and it hasn’t been until the last few years that I have focused more on this. Aside from my training as a ballet dancer, I’m studying Marketing and Advertising to complement social media. But a couple of years ago, due to a casting I did for a Netflix series, I discovered on-camera acting and I was captivated. Since then, I have been training as an actor too and casting for various projects in the hopes of fitting into a role and being able to live the experience of being in a real production.
