It is widespread in this industry to produce a TV show and later make a movie about this same project, usually, it is a spin-off. It happened with the film Monsters Inc. (2001) and in 2021 Monster at Work was released. Same as the 2016 film Zootopia, which Disney released a series earlier this year. The TV Show Teen Wolf is also a case since they will release Teen Wolf: The Movie on January 26, 2023. Jeff Davis created the series and now will be the screenwriter of the film.
Teen Wolf: The Movie will be set in Beacon Hills where the full moon rises, and also a new terrifying evil has emerged. The wolves are back and they are howling once again, calling for the return of Banshees, Werecoyotes, Hellhounds, Kitsunes, and another shapeshifter in the night. Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) who is no longer a teenager, yet he is still an Alpha, is the only werewolf who can both gather new allies and reunite with his trusted friends to fight back against this new evil who seems to be the most powerful and deadliest enemy they have ever faced.
Luckily for us, the fans, the cast stays the same in comparison with the series, Tyler Posey as Scott McCall, Crystal Reed as Allison Argent, Tyler Hoechlin as Derek Hale, Holland Roden as Lydia Martin, Colton Haynes as Jackson Whittemore, Shelley Henning as Malia Tate, Dylan Sprayberry as Liam Dunbar, Linden Ashby as Noah Stilinski, Melissa Ponzio as Melissa McCall, JR Bourne as Chris Argent, and Ryan Kelley as Jordan Parrish, Khylin Rhambo as Mason Hewitt, Orny Adams as Bobby Finstock, Seth Gilliam as Alan Deaton, Ian Bohen as Peter Hale, Vince Mattis as Eli Hale, Amy Lin Workman as Hikari Zhang, Nobi Nakanishi as Deputy Ishida, John Posey as Conrad Feris, and L.B Fisher as Coach Hogan. In this movie, we will definitely miss Dylan O’Brien who played the role of Stiles Stilinski in the series and also was also Scott’s best friend.
We need to remember that Teen Wolf ended in 2017 and four years later, exactly in September 2021, it was announced a reunion film for the 2011 Teen Wolf TV Show had been ordered by Paramount+. Jeff Davis would return as a screenwriter and executive producer for the film. The good news for the fans was that all actors would reprise their original roles, but the bad news was that O’Brien, Cody Christian (Theo Raeken), and Arden Chi (Kira Yukimura) decided not to return. Plus, Teen Wolf episode director Russell Mulcahy returned to direct the film.
In March 2022, principal photography officially began. Filming finished on May 17, 2022. The film is set to release in January on the Paramount+ streaming platform.
If we go back to 2017, Teen Wolf ended with a total of six seasons and 100 episodes. The series became popular among teenagers, and also was nominated for many awards, winning some of these.
Teen Wolf (2011) can be watched on Netflix since all seasons are available on the American streaming platform.
