Alex Bowman achieved his first victory in the season of the NASCAR Cup Series 2022. Alex, overtook his team partner and the defender champion of the serie, Kyle Larson, in an extra time in Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The driver of Chevrolet No. 48 of Hendrick Motorsports stayed ahead during 16 of the 274 laps in the Pennzoil 400 to secure his first victory at the 1.5 mille track and the seventh of his career in the Cup Series.
Larson was second classified, 0.178 seconds, driving the Chevrolet No. 5, who wanted his second consecutive victory in the current season. All of this after recovering of a suspension because of excessive speed on his penultimate stop in boxes. American driver Ross Chastain was ahead during 83 laps, the best performance of his career, was finally third. Then, Kyle Busch and William Byron were fourth and fifth classified to complete the top 5. About Busch, completed a weekend full of incidents. The Saturday he had an incident on the practise and his team have to prepare the reserve car. Moreover, the Sunday he was in the last positions of the squad and was present on a collision at lap 42. Austin Dillom, Daniel Hemric and Justin Haley were also involved in the problem.
Busch didn´t has enough. He fought against a faulty gear stick and he had a beautiful duel with Chase Briscoe after the first phase. Busch was the first during the most time of the race until an accident (between Erik Jones and Bubba Wallace) in the last terms. This forced to add seven more laps of which there were in the beginning of the event.
The race had twelve precautionary periods. This type of measure affects a lot to the group of drivers that are favourite to win the race. The winner of the pole and his team partner in Busch, Christopher Bell, was ahead 32 laps. However, he had a spin in the second phase and didn´t have any opportunity to win. At least he was tenth place. Bowman won the first phase and Chastain the second phase. The Next Gen of the cars give to the crown an amazing exhibition and more entertaining this sport.
