“Wednesday”, the new Netflix series about the eldest daughter of the Addams Family, has been a smash hit of 2022 that is getting records of visualizations, surpassing even series like “Stranger Things“. Tim Burton’s new film starring Jenna Ortega, with just 20 years old, and featuring Christina Ricci, the actress who originally played Wednesday, is surprising everyone.
Despite the success of the series as a whole, the highlight is the dance that the protagonist does during the prom of the school in which she studies. Within days of the premiere of “Wednesday” the dance steps had already gone viral in tiktok, where thousands of people are accepting the challenge of learning it, even famous people and their daughters, such as North West. This happened after the official Wednesday account published the dance scenes, with which it achieved more than 5 million views.
According to a Tiktok user, @ctrlaltdelme20 , Jenna Ortega’s dance is inspired by a scene from the movie” Sweet Charity“, which was choreographed by Bob Fosse and, the truth is that they are quite similar. In this 1969 film, a dancer, also dressed in black, performs the choreography. Although the main idea comes from here, the actress was inspired for her movements by Lisa Loring, Lene Lovich and Denis Lavant, among others, when they danced in the 80s. “There’s a moment at the dance when I’m jumping to the left and my arms are on my sides,” the actress said. “That’s something Siouxsie did on stage during his career,” she added, explaining where she got that inspiration.
Focusing on the music that is already viral on this social network, this dance goes with the song “Goo gol muck” by the American punk rock group, The Cramps.
After seeing the success that Burton’s latest job is having, it is expected to have the announcement of the renewal for a second season over the coming weeks. Nothing is yet known about it as lately it is difficult to make more seasons of a series since Netflix is becoming very demanding with the renovations.
