Last week, from Thursday, July 21 to Sunday, July 24, Comic Con, the San Diego International Comic Convention, was held in San Diego. This convention is famous for bringing together fans and stars from the world of movies and fiction series, as well as being the cradle of spoilers and news about upcoming projects. This is how we have learned the latest news about Captain America 4 and other projects that will integrate the 5th and 6th phases of the Marvel Universe.
For starters we have the official title of the fourth installment of Captain America, which will be Captain America: New World Order. Recall that Chris Evans is retiring from the role of Steve Rogers after what happened to him in Avengers: Endgame, when he decides to take a little trip back in time to reunite with his love and live a long and happy life after “hanging up the cape”. That left a void in the fans and in the Avengers‘ lines of defense. With the loss of Black Widow, Iron Man and the blurred future of Thor, the Avengers have been greatly reduced in number, but of course, that doesn’t slow down the Marvel Universe, which is loaded with new developments and a whole new generation of superheroes is in the works.
The premiere of Captain America: New World Order is scheduled for May 3, 2024, and the protagonist will be none other than Anthony Mackie, whom we had previously known as Falcon. The truth is that the bets were close, as many thought that the movies could follow the line of the comics and place Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) as the new Captain America. However, after the events of both actors starring in the Falcon and Winter Soldier series, where Sam Wilson (Mackie) finally accepts the Captain’s shield, it is decided that he will be the one to carry on Steve Rogers‘ legacy.
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the project is going full steam ahead and already has Julios Onah, who directed The Cloverfield Paradox, as director. The filmmaker has also directed numerous shorts and features such as The GIrl Is In Trouble and Lucie. Joining him will be Malcolm Spellman, screenwriter of Falcon and Winter Soldier, who will also dot and comma the film.
And no doubt both Sam Willson and Anthony Mackie have the support of their predecessor, and it is that in social networks still circulated the doubt of who would give life to the Captain in this new installment. It was Chris Evans who settled the issue on Twitter with the phrase “Sam Wilson is Captain America“. So we can deduce that superhero and actor fully support the new Captain, and no doubt all Marvel fans will do the same.
