Niall Horan surprised fans during his performance on Friday (June 9) at the TODAY’s Citi Concert Series stage. The talented singer was there to celebrate the release of his third album.
Dressed in a stylish blue outfit, Horan pleased the audience with a mix of his best songs and tracks from his new album. The setlist included his popular song “Slow Hands,” which reached number 11 on the charts. He also sang songs from his album “The Show,” like “Meltdown,” “The Show,” and “On a Night Like Tonight.” But the most exciting moment of the day was a surprise video from his “father figure” on The Voice.
Country star Blake Shelton, who coached Horan in season 23 of The Voice, sent a heartfelt message to congratulate him on his album release. Shelton jokingly mentioned that he had “written it into the script” for Niall to win The Voice finale. This gesture showed the friendship between the two judges, even though Blake didn’t win that season.
On The Voice, the Irish singer had an amazing win with his team member Gina Miles. This was particularly special because it was Horan’s first season on the show, and it happened to be Shelton’s last. Blake Shelton holds the record as the only artist to be a coach for all 23 seasons of The Voice since it started in 2011.
“The Show” is Niall’s newest album, following the release of “Heartbreak Weather” in 2020. The album was introduced with the lead single “Heaven,” which reached number 62 on the Billboard Hot 100. As a solo artist, Niall has achieved two top five albums on the Billboard 200, including his first album “Flicker,” which reached number one. He has also appeared on the Hot 100 with seven songs. During his time with One Direction, the group had four number one albums on the Billboard 200 and six top ten singles on the Hot 100.
Overall, Niall Horan’s performance on the TODAY show was a memorable event. Fans enjoyed a mix of his best songs and new tracks from his album “The Show.” The surprise video from Blake Shelton added an extra level of excitement to the day, showing the bond between the two artists. With his success on The Voice and his growing solo career, Niall continues to establish his place in the music industry.
