Automaker companies has been planning over the last few years the change from gasoline engines to hybrid and electric cars. In an interview with Autocar, the founder Horacio Pagani has secured that they have stopped their investigation in the EVs because it weigh too much and lack emotion.
He has said “The challenge is to make an EV that gives good emotion like a normal ICE, Pagani isn’t going to do something just with good performance, as you can do this [now], but to give emotion to the driver. The idea should be to make a lightweight car, but this is the biggest challenge, the dream would be a 1300-kilogram EV, but this isn’t possible”.
In 2018, the Italian luxury carmaker set up a team specialized into electric vehicles, the objective was to research the viability for global homologation for safety standards while still being able to deliver a signature Pagani experience. About this, Pagani has said that he has not seen too much interest in the market for the EVs.
Pagani has said that they will be still offering Mercedes V12 engines because he has said they enjoy working with them “Mercedes is a big company, but you can still sit in front of a few people who decide, speak to them and be listened to”, Pagani said.
The founder has secured “at the moment, 90 percent of energy is produced without renewables, it’s silly to think that only a few supercars [in the world] with ICEs can have a negative impact on the climate when 90 percent of energy is produced in a bad way”.
All the automakers, including the luxury ones, are working on electric vehicles, but as in this articles has been demonstrated, it has some difficulties to maintain the speed and the power of the gasoline vehicles, but it looks like it will be the future and maybe Pagani will try again in the future.
