Tom Pidcock took victory in the cyclocross world championship held this year in the American city of Fayetteville. In a circuit too fast for what is customary to see in cyclocross, the little English rider had no rival thanks to his great engine that opened a gap in the uphill zone and his skill in technical curves and descents.
With this victory, the British rider will wear the long-awaited rainbow jersey during the next cyclocross season, relieving Mathieu Van der Poel as world champion of the discipline and for the first time in seven years the most beautiful cycling jersey will not be worn by Van der Poel himself or Wout van Aert, who started as the top favorite for this world championship but nevertheless resigned from it due to the next one with the classic road cycling campaign.
With the achievement of this world championship, Pidcock has already achieved, at the age of 22, Olympic gold in Mountain Bike in the last Olympic Games in Tokyo, being competitive in the biggest road cycling races and now this world championship in cyclocross.
On the podium he was accompanied by the Dutch Van der Haar and Iserbyt representing Belgium. In the girls, Marinne Vos, Jumbo-Visma runner, won her 8th world championship, the first since 2014, and is thus positioned as the best cyclist of all time.
