Recently, the famous Canadian rapper Drake has released a new song titled “Rescue Me”, which includes a sample of a vocal recording of Kim Kardashian. The sample in question comes from an episode of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” in which the businesswoman and reality TV star talks to her mother about her divorce from Kanye West.
The use of samples is a very common technique in music production, especially in the hip-hop and rap genre. In this case, Drake has chosen to use Kim Kardashian’s voice in “Rescue Me” to create a dramatic effect in the lyrics of the song.
The choice of this particular sample has generated some controversy, as the incident to which Kim Kardashian refers was very complicated and has put the confrontation between the two musicians back on everyone’s lips.
With this, we can hear from Kim’s mouth phrases such as “I didn’t come this far not to be happy”, accompanying a song whose lyrics are based on Drake’s inability to feel emotions and maintain a personal and intimate relationship, adding phrases such as “I need someone to be patient with me/ Someone who has money, who wouldn’t take it from me/ They don’t even need to be as famous as me/ I don’t think I know them in the places I move/ But deep down I think about you all day long, mommy”.
