Roger Federer (1981) is probably the best tennis player of history. He won 103 ATP tittles (20 Grand Slams) and he was ranked number one during 310 weeks including a record 237 consecutive weeks.
Federer announced his retirement last week and played his last match with Rafa Nadal on Friday against Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe in a doubles match. Rafa and Roger lost the game but at the end ther was an emotional act and Federer couldn’t hold back the tears.
The debate about the greatest of all time is in the eye of the beholder, but there is no doubt that Federer is the one who plays with more elegance and aesthetic beauty. He had balance and coordination in spades, many people even compare it with Muhammad Ali’s footwork.
Everyone loves Roger and with his last match every tennis fan probably felt that an unrepeatable legacy was coming to an end. His career will be remembered throughout the history of sport being remembered as the greatest beauty of tennis.
