Samuel López is a 25 years old professional dancer known for his TikTok videos. He started in the social media in 2018 with his account @samuellopez_ where he has more than 20 million followers. Besides dancing, he likes to post comedy and lip-syncing videos.
On his Instagram account (@samuellopez), where he accumulates more than 2.6 million of fans, he uses to show his model side and lifestyle, trying to have a more professional image for the audience. Although he started a YouTube channel, it has only 4 videos published and has been unpudated for more than a year.
Some years ago, Samuel wan the Ballroom dance world championship eight consecutive times. He represented his country, Spain, in the youth category. That make him climb till the seventh best dancer in the world in that style.
With this experience dancing Samuel moved to the United States to work as a dancer for the program “Dancing with the stars” in Miami. In 2019 he decided to quit and move to Los Ángeles to take more dance lessons and gain experience for the future, but the day his flight was programmed the Covid-19 pandemic officially arrived the country and his dreams were suddenly take off him.
During the lockdown he started to publish more videos on his TikTok account following his friend’s advice. In a few months he became a notorious person and started to be considered as an “influencer”. That was only the begining of what he had ahead.
Samuel admits to have had pressure and being stressed by the algorithm of the social media. He used to see his followers, likes and coments on his recent post but nowadays he’s learn how to digest the succes and the failures this world has. Meanwhile, he has become one of the most famous influencers of Spain and he says it must be thank to being grateful, open and honest with his followers.
After dedicating these past years to his social network Samuel looks now to a possible future in the acting world.
Can you walk us through a typicall day in your life?
The first thing i do when i wake up is taking a coffee, without my coffee i don’t consider myself a human…
Then i usually review my emails and answer couple of them.
I love starting the day cleaning and organizing my house and go for meetings, events or anything i have on that day. If not, i stay at home and study cause of my acting classes or work. Afeter i come back, i go to the gym and record some tiktoks.
At the end, i take shower and have dinner watchig some tv show or i ussually love staying all night with music and just chill on my couch.
Can you name a song or album thas has significantly impacted your life?
The Blaze – DANCEHOUSE Album has been with me everiday since i started…giving me energy, joy and even support on the bad days.
Do you have any behind scenes stories you can share?
I don’t remember any behind the scenes right now…
Which house’s aesthetic resonates most with your personal style?
My favourite color is black and I love mountains…I think my perfect house would be a mix between black, wood and nature all around.
What’s the most memorable fan interaction you’ve had?
I have lots of memorable moments, but one day, a girl with Cancer traveled from Spain to Mexico to find me and meet me in person. She told me how much i helped her through my videos, that she wanted to fight because she wanted to dance one day like me…. She is not here anymore with us, so she is always gonna be my angel.
How would you describe your relationship with your fans? Is it very close?
My fans and I are a family. Everytime I see one of them I always try to stay the longest talking, without them I wouldn’t be here so I own them. I had the time to meet a couple of them and take them for a coffee so yeah, I am already close to my people.
Can you share a moment when dance helped you through a challenging time?
Dance helped me to go through life. In my happiest and saddest moments I tried to express myself dancing and it always helped me finding answers, making me calm…dancing is my therapy.
Are there any dance challenges or trends you’re currently loving?
I actually have no favourite trends right now, if I would have to choose I would say the new trend of my friend Sa (Lollipop – Darell)
What are your top three fashion essentials that you believe everyone should have in their wardrobe?
First of all, there’s not a fashion person without a pair of Sunglasses, then i would say Jeans ( not skinny ) and peacked botes, they look cute with almost everything!
Is there a song that never fails to make you emotional or nostalgic? If so, what is it?
Romantic Homicide – D4vd, it has a special eaning to me. It will always remembers me about one of the most frustrating and painful moments of my life.
Of all the fashion events you’ve graced, is there one of that holds a special place in your heart?
I think all the fashion events have a special place on my heart… I love Fashion and FW is my favorite part of the year. But i’d say the last HUGO BOSS show and after party in milan was really memorable… meet so many amazing people who i admire personally and they all were so kind to me… couple of them even knew me and that was really amazing. Naomi Cambell had fitting at the same time like me and she said she loved my style ! I will never forget that!
What is one dream collaboration or project you’d love to work on?
As a dancer, my dream collab is with Paris Goebel who i also met in Milan and became so close to her… I already told her so don’t be surprised if one day you see us both dancing together !
As an actor i would love to work one day with Zendaya, Emma Watson or Timotheee Chalamet, thanks to them i started interpretation!
How do you choose wich brands or other influencers to collaborate with?
I always try to collab or work with brands and people that works with my style… I try to always put my style first and not the money they’ll pay.
How do you ensure a balance between your personal life and your influencer persona?
Before i always talked about my personal life in Socials but about a year ago i started to keep my personal life for myself and my people, cause people were starting to get really intense with my loved ones… The situation was scary sometimes. I try to keep showing my followers about my life but not getting to personal. I love being a bit mysterious now, is much more fun!
