Singer and actress Selena Gómez has been suffering from a serious illness, known as Lupus, since 2015. Because of this, she needed a kidney transplant in 2017 because due to the disease it had stopped working. Luckily her best friend at the time, actress Francia Raisa, could be her donor because they share the same blood type.
Selena and Francia have been friends for more than 10 years since they met during a visit to a children’s hospital. As they say themselves when they met they made “click”, so Raisa did not doubt a minute to save the life of her friend.
For reasons of promotion of her new documentary, My Mind & Me, the ex Disney girl attended last December 5 Jimmy Fallon’s program, The Tonight Show. During this interview the singer spoke about her feature film published on Apple TV and about the kidney transplant she suffered, which can also be seen in the documentary.
In the course of the conversation with Jimmy about the surgery, Selena never mentioned her friend Francia, the donor who made the transplant possible. Instead, the singer explained that this kidney had been called Fred Armisen, telling that she was a fan of Portland. This unfortunate comment did not make any fun among her followers, who were surprised that she did not mention her best friend and think that the kidney should be called Francia, since she is the one who donated it.
After all the criticism she received through social media for the interview on the Fallon show, the protagonist of Only Murders in the Building decided to upload a video to TikTok asking for forgiveness for “not mentioning all the people I know”.
It is true that Gómez has always mentioned and thanked Raisa for her gesture. For example, shortly after the surgery she wrote “There are no words to describe how I can thank my beautiful friend France Raisa. He gave me the best gift and sacrifice”. So if she has not done it this time it must be for some justified reason.
Even so, this has not been the first gesture that suggests that Francia and Selena are no longer so friendly. Previously there have been other reasons that have shown that both no longer have the same relationship as before. For example, during another interview, the Come & Get it interpreter mentioned that her only friend in the industry was Taylor Swift. From that day Raisa stopped following the singer on social networks.
By the moment Selena has never spoken about why the actress stopped being her best friend neither has talked about any problems she had with her.
