The singer and actress has been the first one to announced on her social media through an Instagram Stories.
The Wizards of Weaverly Place returns to Disney on a sequel called “Wizards”. The official account of Disney published a TikTok with some scenes of the popular show and closed the video with a picture of what seems to be the script of the sequel.
Later, Selena Gómez, who played Alex Russo on the series, published some photos of her on the show and, again, the picture of the script, confirming the comeback of the show to the platform.
The other one that has pronounced about it is David Henrie, who plays Selena’s sibling on the show and by the moment, the only other character confirmed to be in the sequel. Besides, the actor wrote on the post: “The Russo are excited to be part of your family once again, except we’ve grown up. 2024, the year when magic returns!”
According to Deadline, the story will begin after a mysterious incident at Wiz Tech, where Justin Russo, now an adult, has left his powers behind and has opted for a normal life with his wife and two children. But a young magician will need training and will come to his door… Which will take Justin back in time and enter the world of magic again.
Apparently they will only release a Pilot episode to see how the new series would be accepted by the public. This episode is written by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas. Another fact is that Selena Gómez will only appear on the Pilot episode as a special guest, but won’t be part of the story.
Some of the cast that will work with David Henrie are Janice LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele and Mimi Gianopulos. Moreover, Selena Gomez, as well as David Henrie will be on the project as executive producers.
By the moment we don’t know the release date, if some of the characters from the original show will participate, the number of episodes and any more details about the show. We will have to wait to see how this develops.
