Tommy Hilfiger still a powerful and known brand in the fashion industry after all this years in the market, its americana style appeals to a vast majority of men that want to revive the late 80s. In this occasion they are starting a collaboration with the musician Shawn Mendes to explore the limits of this style.
It was known that in the Met Gala the famous singer was wearing Tommy Hilfiger but nobody knew about the existence of this collaboration, and we underappreciated the look by judging it without knowing the context. Shawn is always giving simple and minimalist outfits on red carpets, but this time went for something more historic and we didn’t understand that change of perspective.
Now, after seeing that he is starting the Play It Forward partnership with this brand that consists on different campaigns, a capsule collection by the artist set to released on spring 2023, the wardrobe of the upcoming worldwide tour of the singer and one million of dollars to make this event the more ecofriendly as possible.
Tommy Hilfiger is betting for sustainability and wants to make it part of the roots of the brand. Due to this , the first campaign that Shawn Mendes is starring on is Classics Reborn which is focusing on selling iconic products of the brands but made with 100% recyclable material. Also all the pieces that the singer is going to have through the tour are going to be vintage pieces or sustainable new garments.
By shooting Craig McDean the photos in the campaign and in the cover of Dancing in the Dark by Bruce Springsteen that Shawn is performing in the promotional video, the americana vibe is setting the tone for the partnership. I just wish that it never stops, because there’s nothing holding me back to jump on it and become an ambassador myself.
