The singer who in recent months revealed the good relationship he has with his ex-girlfriend Camila Cabello, opened up in a heartfelt letter about how overwhelmed he feels. The letter is specially addressed to his fans and in it he shows his concerns about his music career and his deepest feelings.
Mendes expresses that he constantly feels “either flying or drowning“, unable to find a mental balance in his day to day life. A symptom that has been happening to him since the breakup with Camilia, but that he has not talked about it until today. The singer is 23 years old and throughout his career the fans have turned to him in every concert. However, he doesn’t see it that way.
Mendes shows his concern about whether his music is really pleasing the public. In the letter he lovingly wrote he looks fearfully at whether fans have started to get bored with him. “I’m afraid that if people know and see the truth, they will think less of me. They might get bored of me,” he wrote, “So, in those moments of discouragement, I make a show or hide,” he added.
The letter also reveals the artist’s desire to show himself to the world as he is, no matter what they think of him. “The truth is that even with so much success I still struggle to feel like I’m not failing. Hyper-focused on what I don’t have, forgetting to see everything I do. The truth is I’m overwhelmed and overstimulated. lol. The truth I’m ALSO okay,” he said about struggling and showing his true self.
Since the breakup with Camila and after the different hints they have sent each other through their songs, the couple has lived the breakup differently. Finally, Mendes came clean with this letter via Twitter and the truth is that thanks to it now the fans have shown much more support for the singer to move forward.
