Next March NBC will premiere the new Eurovision-style singing competition in the USA. Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson have been announced as the hosts of this new contest, which has been eagerly awaited by many Eurofans in the US.
‘American Song Contest’ will feature original musical performances representing 50 states, five U.S. territories and the nation’s capital, with artists competing to win the title of Best Original Song in one big show. While the list of solo singers, duos or bands is not yet available, the show will air for eight weeks with the Grand Finale scheduled for May 9.
Ben Silverman, the executive producer, said he spent 20 years trying to pull off this show in an American version. Silverman likes to think that “when America is more divided than ever and we’re dealing with so many issues that divide us, the one thing that really unites us is our culture, our music.”
The truth is that Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson are very excited to be able to participate together in “this great project”. Clarkson better known as ‘Miss Texas’ stated that she is a “fan of the Eurovision concept” and that she hopes for the best of working with Snoop. The rapper in a statement also assures that he is honored to host the American Song Contest alongside “my little sister” Kelly Clarkson.
Much excitement and enthusiasm to see how this Americavision will be in a month. A new format that will compete with other American Idol shows, where Kelly Clarkson rose to fame. The news about the American Song Contest comes after Snoop Dogg’s performance at the Super Bowl show and his controversy over an image where he was apparently seen smoking on stage.
