In a galaxy far, far away, the long saga of Star Wars does not seem to end, because soon on October 26th, 2022, Disney+ will release Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi. The animated series created by Dave Filoni and Charles Murray, will count with six episodes that will premiere all at once. It is not the first time Star Wars animated content has been released. In fact, other animated series of the successful saga by George Lucas, are Star Wars: The Bad Batch (2021), Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008), among others. Now, Tales of the Jedi will be added to this long list full of success.
Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi will tell the background and origin of Anakin Skywalker’s trainee, Ahsoka Tano (Ahsley Eckstein) and Count Dooku’s (Corey Burton) story that as he grows older, he strays from the path of being a Jedi and eventually gives up to the dark side of the Force. The animated series was announced back in May, 2022 when Filoni gave the first details of the show. The Lucasfilm production will split its six episodes into different paths, one telling the story of Ahsoka Tano and the other one portraying the character Count Dooku, each character will be explored in different eras of their lives.
Although it is an animated series, certain actors will lend their voices that will give life to the characters, such as Liam Neeson (Qui-Gon Jinn), Janina Gavankar (Pav-ti, Ahsoka’s mother), Matt Lanter (Anakin Skywalker or Darth Vader), Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano), Michéal Richardson (young Qui-Gon Jinn) and Corey Burton (Count Dooku). Other characters from the saga, such as Bail Organa, Mace Windu, Yaddle and Ponda Baba will feature in the series.
During the D23 Expo, Lucasfilm showed the first trailer of Tales of the Jedi and revealed the release date as well. Filoni started developing the series when he and his crew were traveling to shoot The Mandalorian. The creator started to write stories about different Jedi from the Star Wars’ prequel trilogy era. Lucasfilm confirmed the project in April, 2022, and the details given in May were about the creators, and that the episodes will last approximately 15 minutes.
Star Wars: Tales of Jedi is expected to be a hit like the other TV shows from the Star Wars saga. Since Star Wars has always been successful throughout the years, from its first movie in 1977 until now that producers keep releasing content, this is one of the reasons it is considered a “worldwide pop-culture phenomenon”. As a matter of a fact, its popularity has caused a vast amount of Star Wars merchandise that has been distributed all over the world and also, each film, which have been critically acclaimed, has also been a success for George Lucas
Not only that, but Star Wars also has a section at the Disney Parks, specifically in Disney’s Hollywood Studios located in Florida, US, which is called Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. This is where fans can live their own Star Wars life. Fly the Millenium Falcon and join the Resistance into the battle.
